Dan Burrell

Dan’s passion for ice fishing was born on the frozen lakes of Thunder Bay, Ontario, including the mighty Lake Superior, during the 1980s. This deep-seated love for the sport continued to grow as he explored and ice fished the picturesque lakes of Utah while pursuing his education at the University of Utah. With over 25 years of ice fishing experience in the Beehive State, Dan is not only a seasoned angler but also a dedicated teacher, especially when it comes to imparting the nuances of catching fish through the ice, a skill he is truly passionate about.

No ice fishing outing with Dan is complete without his trusty thermos of hot chocolate, ensuring that everyone stays warm and content on the ice. He’s also known to bring along a soccer ball or football to keep the spirits high and the fun flowing. In his downtime, Dan is an avid snowboarder and enjoys the tranquility of cross-country skiing. However, he can often be found chasing after a winter midge hatch on the river, a testament to his unwavering dedication to all things winter and outdoors.

Raised in northern Utah, Rick began his life-long pursuit of fish
and appreciation of the outdoors on the Blacksmith Fork River
with his father when he was just four years old. By the age of
seven, Rick was ice fishing for trout, crappie and bluegill and
later for his preferred ice fishing target, the yellow perch.

An accomplished and knowledgeable angler, Rick has fished

Zach Hedrick

Zach, a Brigham City native, has cherished the waters of Northern Utah from an early age. Introduced to fishing by his father, who carried him in a backpack during fishing trips, Zach’s connection to the local waters has remained strong. As soon as he could drive, he immersed himself in ice fishing, particularly at Mantua Reservoir, where he developed a deep passion for catching big perch and bluegill. While he enjoys various ice fishing experiences, his heart belongs to the pursuit of sizeable panfish.
When the ice thaws and the open water season arrives, Zach dedicates most of his time to chasing walleye and tiger musky. His fishing adventures offer a dynamic balance to his life. Beyond the water, Zach treasures moments spent with his wife and their five daughters, creating enduring memories and embracing the importance of family.
